Hi, I’m Dee and I love to create pieces that evoke the repeating patterns of nature. When I walk around my hometown or drive through the hills of Pennsylvania, I see the patterns that nature creates. Trees on a mountainside, flowers in a field, ripples on the lake, and even stacks of logs or the night sky have all inspired abstract paintings of mine. I am particularly captivated by the mountains in and around Jim Thorpe.
My professional background has mostly been in interior design for hotels and through that work I have specified thousands of pieces of artwork that hang in hotel rooms, lobbies and restaurants. Sometimes I create these pieces for each project or I work with other artists to craft a vision for the space. Often my selections and concepts are based in the abstract, but always with particular attention to detail paid to the locale and somehow replicating that inside of an abstract piece.
I enjoy Places. The concept of place and time has always intrigued me. Every single thing in this world has a unique background and I love to highlight that in my design, photography and art services. Meaning is created by experiences, and experiences create meaning. Design is the method by which you start to consolidate experience into something tangible. My roots are in the tangible world of interior design and creating spaces that people can feel and touch. However, so much of interior design is an unspoken and actually unseen natural energy force which is created by the designer. It is the same with any art piece, the artist puts their soul into their work and that is then experienced by its viewers. When we speak of energy and concepts like Feng Shui, we are tapping into the natural rhythm of the world and doing so can create healing and well-being for anyone who comes into contact with it. That is what I seek to do in all of my work, to create things that have a buzz about them, that heal through intention in their creation.
